This Privacy Policy explains how the Food Scanner mobile app
(package com.food.scanner.calories.tracker, the "App") handles information.
We built the App to need as little of your data as possible. There is no sign up, and we
do not ask for your name, email, or any account details.
Information we handle
Anonymous identifier. The App creates a random anonymous ID (via
Firebase Anonymous Authentication) so your scan history and favourites can sync to your
device. This ID is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any personal
identity.
Your scans and favourites. Products you scan or save are stored under
that anonymous ID in Firebase Realtime Database so the App can show your history and
favourites.
Camera. The App uses your camera only to read product barcodes on your
device using Google ML Kit. Camera images are processed on the device in real time and are
not stored, saved, or transmitted to us or anyone else.
Product lookups. When you scan or search a product, its barcode or
search term is sent to the Open Food Facts service to retrieve product and nutrition
information.
Purchases. Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed entirely
by Google Play Billing. We never receive or store your payment card details. The App only
records whether a purchase is active so it can unlock premium features.
What we do NOT do
We do not show advertisements.
We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
We do not collect your name, email, contacts, location, or precise
identity.
Services we rely on
The App uses these third-party services, each with its own privacy policy:
Google Firebase (Authentication and Realtime Database) to create the
anonymous ID and sync your history and favourites.

Because there is no account, your history and favourites are tied only to the App's
anonymous ID on your device. You can remove this data at any time by clearing the App's
storage in your device settings, or by uninstalling the App. If you would like us to delete
data associated with your anonymous ID, contact us at the email below and we will remove it.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect
personal information from children.
Security
Data synced through Firebase is transmitted over encrypted connections and protected by
Google's infrastructure and our access rules. No method of transmission or storage is
completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last
updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes means you
accept the updated policy.
